Member of the Fancy Dancing Group. Members of this group are usually ladies who like to show off their extraordinary Terpsichorial talents. The lady here, although apearing a bit 'wooden', is engaged in the famous plate balancing dance which originated in Belfast hotels and is now commonly performed in Weston. |
Another Member of the Fancy Dancing Group. Here another member of the same group performs the 'Bird Appeal' dance. This is part of an ancient ritual, usually performed on beaches, imploring the Gulls not to use the danser for target practice. The lady in the picture is particularly vulnerable to this sort of thing. |
Third member of the Fancy Dancing Group. Yet a third member of this group demonstrates her ability as a fancy dancer. She is performing the ancient 'stone flower' dance, used to charm the winkles. This lady has the advantage that when she gets fed up with dancing, she can just fly away. |
Chair-Person of the Snob Study Group. This group studies the ways of snobs and tries to emulate them where possible. The chair-person of course, has to set an example and the 'stoney' stare is very well executed. [Some say the whole group should be executed.] |
Member of the Volunteer Guard Group. The Volunteer Guard Group are usually ex military people, some of very high rank. They guard important places, like pubs and public gardens, from attacks by wind, rain, lightning, seagulls etc. and are always ready for duty. Here a member is defying flood waters to enter a pub. |
Another Member of the Volunteer Guard Group. Here another member of this group is defending an important gateway. This member is not quite so old as the previous one and is better eqipped. Note that the guard has no shaddow. This is quite common with VGM members and is useful as it confuses the birds. |
Member of the 'Trees are only Human' Group. This group is somewhat similar to the Animal Rights Group but dressing up is a bit more elaborate. The member shown here, thought to be a lady, has, however, been branching out a bit. |
U3A Pet - Great Beach Boar. Many U3A members have pets, some a tad unusual. This is a Great Beach Boar owned by a member. This animal spends most of its time sitting on the beach and spinning long unlikely yarns to holiday makers. [Some say that it used to be owned by a well known politician.] |
U3A Pet - Old Sea Dog. Old Sea Dogs have similar habits to Beach Boars but are not so good with the long yarns and tend to howl rather a lot. This breed hale fron the Isle of Wight and originally had something to do with Queen Victoria. |
U3A Pet - Another Old Sea Dog. This is another Old Sea Dog belinging to another U3A member. This one just sits on the beach and sings pop songs, which make it favourate with the youngsters but not with established pop groups. |
